SAHA Neighborhood News: Summer 2016

Summer is a busy season here at SAHA. We are laying the groundwork for six new developments from Napa to Oakland to San Jose. And we have dozens of programs for our residents and neighbors running all summer long, including summer meal programs, community gardening and special celebrations. As housing costs continue to soar, we remain committed to providing housing opportunities and supportive services to households struggling in these challenging economic times.

Breaking Ground: Housing News

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Grand Opening of Tower Park in June. We were deeply moved to hear testimony from new residents of their warm and supportive new community for 50 low income seniors in Modesto. Check out this article in the Modesto Bee

As you pass by Berkeley's Ashby BART station, take note of Harper Crossing rising out of the ground. We are on track to complete this 42 unit senior building by early next summer. And stay tuned for invitations to the groundbreakings of Tabora Gardens in Antioch and Redwood Hill Townhomes in Oakland.

Building Community: Bringing Together Friends (and Food!)

Earlier this month, more than 300 SAHA residents from across the Bay Area joined together at our 3rd annual Senior Field Day at Albany Memorial Park. Volunteers, staff and community members grilled, ate, sang, danced, registered voters and competed for prizes throughout the day and great fun was had by all. Speaking of food, for the first time SAHA has partnered with the City of Oakland to offer free lunches to school-aged children at two properties. No one should go hungry in our communities!
