On Thursday, July 20, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates (SAHA) celebrates the groundbreaking of Valley View Senior Homes: 70 apartment and cottage-style homes, all of which will be affordable to very low and extremely low-income seniors and veterans aged 55+.

Scheduled speakers at the ceremony include Mayor Leon Garcia, State Assembly Member Cecilia M. Aguiar-Curry, Napa County Board of Supervisor Chair Belia Ramos, funders, and housing advocates, as well as a ceremonial groundbreaking, refreshments and special guests.

The community is invited to attend.

Residents will enjoy a beautifully landscaped community that incorporates the highest standards of green building and sustainable design as well as a robust selection of on-site services and activities to support wellness, independent living, and aging-in-place. Amenities will include a one-story Community Clubhouse with double-height vaulted ceilings, a large dining room with adjacent full kitchen facilities, a lounge area, craft room, computer lab, and laundry room.  The adjoining terrace and bocce ball court offer views of the community making it a natural gathering place, and the nearby community garden area contains ample planting beds. 

Once complete, SAHA will provide a variety of on-site programs to senior residents including: computer training, health management and preventative screenings, exercise classes and walking groups, a gardening club and other weekly social events.

Financing comes from a mix of local and State funds as well as tax credit equity and private debt. In addition to the City land contribution, the financing plan includes funds from the Federal Home Loan Bank AHP program, 4% tax credit equity, Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Program, City of American Canyon, Napa County, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, The Home Depot Foundation, Gasser Foundation, and a Section 8 increment loan and conventional mortgage. Total development costs for the project are approximately $26.5 million.
