New Homes
On July 21, SAHA, along with the Oakland Housing Authority, celebrated the grand opening of Lakeside Senior Apartments, 92 affordable homes for low-income and formerly homeless seniors in the Eastlake District of Oakland. Check out this great photo essay of this LEED Platinum building in the Contra Costa Times.

This summer brought important funding news! Camino 23, SAHA's newest project on International Boulevard received an Affordable Housing and Sustainable Communities (AHSC) award, better known as "cap and trade" funds. The Strategic Growth Council (SGC) endorsed 28 projects totaling $121.9 million from the state's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.

SAHA's Tabora Gardens and Valley View were 2 of the 17 projects throughout California (and the only Bay Area projects) that will receive funding through Proposition 41 and the Veterans Housing and Homeless Prevention Program (VHHP).

Save the Date:
Strawberry Creek Lodge Grand Re-Opening On October 28th at 10:30am, SAHA and the Strawberry Creek Lodge Foundation, along with tenants, community members and city officials will celebrate the extensive renovation and re-opening of this historic Berkeley apartment building. Stay tuned for more information!

A Resident Perspective:
Kiara Hedglin, Arboleda Apartments "Pride, privacy, and peace of mind - these are the three things that keep going through my mind as I start to type this as I relax in my very first apartment. My name is Kiara Hedglin, I am 26 years old, have a developmental disability called Cerebral Palsy, and am a (new) proud resident of Arboleda in Walnut Creek California."
