SAHA Neighborhood News

The lack of affordable housing in the Bay Area has never been more pressing. With your support, we're rising to the challenge of meeting the housing needs of the communities we serve. We are excited to share our news about SAHA's events and milestones coming up this spring.

Opening New Doors

A very warm welcome to the senior citizens moving into their beautiful, new affordable hillside townhomes at Valley View Senior Homes in American Canyon. Learn more about Ronald, who struggled with homelessness before moving in. Congratulations to the Housing Authority of the City of Napa who recently received the Nan McKay Housing Award for their role in this 70 unit project serving seniors and senior veterans.

More lives will be changed later this month when 28 low-income families, including many displaced by the rising rents in Oakland, will move into Redwood Hill Townhomes in Oakland's Dimond District. Join us to celebrate the Grand Opening on May 14, 2019 at 2pm, with a keynote speech by Mayor Libby Schaaf. This event is part of Easy Bay Housing Organizations' Affordable Housing Week.

Construction in Progress

Camino 23 in Oakland's Lower San Antonio neighborhood topped out this month and will be completed by Fall 2019, providing 37 units of much-needed affordable housing. SAHA's staff and board celebrated this milestone with a hard hat tour five stories up in the sky. Grayson Apartments in Berkeley is on track to complete this summer.

This spring, SAHA will begin construction on two more projects - 3268 San Pablo in Oakland and Sunflower Hill at Irby Ranch, in Pleasanton. Join SAHA and our partner Sunflower Hill for the Groundbreaking on May 16th, which is also part of EBHO's Affordable Housing Week.
