SAHA Neighborhood News-2018

The need for affordable housing in the Bay Area has never been more pressing. With your support, we're rising to the challenge, with a grand opening in June, an action-packed calendar of resident services, and new housing communities set to open in the fall. I'm happy to share some exciting events we have coming up and a few of our recent successes. Thank you for all your support.

Breaking Ground: Housing News

Join us in welcoming our newest SAHA residents on Wednesday, June 6 at 10:30 am at the Grand Opening of Tabora Gardens, 85 units of affordable senior and veterans housing. Meet veteran Donna and her partner Pat as they move into their brand new home (pictured here)! The celebration will include remarks by Mayor Wright and members of the development team, as well as building tours and refreshments.

You can see Redwood Hill Townhomes on the rise as you pass by on I-580 near Mills College. Once completed, this project will bring 28 new affordable apartments to Oakland. Also making great construction progress is Valley View Senior Homes in American Canyon. We're accepting applications through June 15, apply here. Both buildings will be completed later this fall.

This past winter, we also broke ground on Grayson Street Apartments, 23 units of affordable housing for families, transition aged youth, and people with special needs in southwest Berkeley.

Our work is getting recognized! In April, Affordable Housing Finance listed SAHA as one of the Top 50 Affordable Housing Developers of 2017. We were ranked as the 12th nonprofit! Closer to home, we also made the San Francisco Business Times' list of the Top 50 Developers in the Greater Bay Area.

Resident Spotlight

Our resident voices matter. Every two years, we conduct a Resident Survey in 7 languages to rate SAHA on our buildings, services, and staff. Highlights from this year's survey include high marks for the customer service of our talented site teams including maintenance, resident services and property management staff. We share all survey results, along with building-specific follow up, with our residents as part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability.

Community Connections

To celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we held our annual volunteer appreciation dinner on April 19th to recognize the hard work of our amazing, funny, and caring volunteers. Our communities are strong and vibrant because of their contributions. Last year, nearly 400 volunteers contributed over 8,000 hours in programs and services at our buildings. Join us here.
