On Tuesday, May 19th, Satellite Affordable Housing Associates and the Native American Health Center held a grand opening ceremony celebrating Flicker Bird Homes, a mixed-use development offering 76 units of deeply affordable family housing alongside a new 14,000-square-foot health clinic and cultural center in the heart of Oakland’s Fruitvale neighborhood. Speakers included SAHA CEO Susan Friedland, NAHC CEO Natalie Aguilera, Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee, Assemblymember Mia Bonta, Oakland City Councilmember Councilmember Noel Gallo, Dr. Robert Nordgren of Sutter Health, Flicker Bird resident Katrina Broom and representatives from East Bay Housing Organizations, State Department of Housing and Community Development, Oakland Housing Authority and the California Department of Toxic Substances Control. The celebration concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
